Our methods

How we work with the children

Art therapy relieves stress and tension and helps children feel safe — and children who feel safe learn more easily. Creative teaching includes painting, cardboard, fabric and yarn, modelling wax and play dough, cutting and gluing — plus activities like cooking, dance, competitions and team games where children learn to cooperate.

We pay special attention to children with educational needs — including autism or difficult experiences. We help children through fear and overwhelming emotions, and we see them improve, make progress and thrive.

Art therapy

Creative therapy that relieves stress and builds a sense of safety — the foundation of all learning with us.

Iso therapy

Therapy through drawing and painting, giving feelings colour and form.

Fairy-tale therapy

Stories and fairy tales that help children understand and process emotions.

Music therapy

Rhythm, sound and music that create calm, joy and connection in the group.

Birthdays

Creative kids' birthday parties

At ART SMART we host special children's birthdays where creativity, play and a festive atmosphere come together in one magical event — a party where children's imagination comes alive.

The party lasts 2.5 hours and is fully organised, with its own theme and festive decor tailored to the birthday child's wishes and dreams. Every child creates their own artwork to take home as a keepsake — and a special moment is the birthday child's joint creative piece made together with their parents.

Parents can simply enjoy the day: we welcome the children and take care of everything in a safe, fun and creative space.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

What classes and age groups do you have?

Early development (ages 3–5): language, feelings, creativity and social skills — all through play and engaging tasks. School children (6–12): reading, writing, Ukrainian and English, creative thinking and gentle support with settling in. English for children: natural language through play, songs and movement. Danish for children: the language comes easily and naturally through play and everyday situations — an important step towards school. Every programme is inclusive: each child gets their own pace and path. There is also a dedicated group for mothers.

Does my child need to speak Danish?

No. We welcome both Danish and international children and communicate in Danish, English and Ukrainian. Through everyday communication in Danish, children pick up the language naturally.

What is art therapy and how does it help?

Art therapy isn't just drawing or modelling — it's a gentle, natural way to help a child express feelings when words are still hard. Through colour, shape and movement, children understand their emotions better, gradually calm down, feel an adult's support and grow more confident and open. We work with iso, fairy-tale and music therapy — including for children with special needs.

When might art therapy be a good idea for my child?

If your child often worries or withdraws, finds it hard to communicate with other children, is going through big changes (kindergarten, school, a new environment), reacts strongly emotionally — lots of tears, anger or fears — or struggles with concentration and confidence. Creative sessions offer a space where a child can be themselves, create at a comfortable pace and grow.

What happens at the Saturday workshops?

Every Saturday we create something new — from creative projects to cooking: badges, cookies, simple dishes and festive treats. Two hours without screens, in the company of friends and inspiration. It's fun, educational, and builds motor skills, independence and self-esteem.

Where do the classes take place?

In our studio at Hadsundvej 61, 9000 Aalborg. You are always welcome to drop by and see the space.
